In July, HID announced it will be acquiring Evolis by end of 2023

This acquisition represents the most significant change in the ID card industry by bringing together two of the market leaders in desktop card printers. The addition of Evolis combines two of the leaders in the desktop printer market and expands the printer portfolio for HID Global beyond the FARGO brand.

ADVANTIDGE has met with leadership for both companies and understands HID’s intent for Evolis to become part of the Secure Issuance (SI) division. For the near future, Evolis will continue operating as its own business unit under the umbrella of HID SI with minimal changes to the sales and distribution process.

The Primacy 2 is the main card printer from Evolis. We have confirmed there are no plans to change anything about that model or its proprietary consumables in 2023.
