Magicard’s new V2 driver ensures that Magicard ID card printers remain intuitive and quick to deploy and continue to be the most reliable and scalable ID card printing option available for instant desktop ID card issuance and encoding. The V2 printer driver features a completely re-designed graphical user interface (GUI), designed to help simplify the complex setup parameters necessary for high-quality plastic ID card printing.
Included with the new user interface of the V2 are expanded options for fine-tuning the color gamma, tone, contrast, brightness, and saturation of ID card images, providing Magicard users the ability to adjust their ID card printer so that ID cards print with colors that exactly match the organization’s branding.
Magicard’s engineers re-wrote the source code of the V2 driver in order to allow the operating system (OS) full control of the printer spooler. Previous Magicard driver versions split this task with the OS, but with the updated V2 driver, the result is fast ID card printing from faster job load times into the printer memory. Magicard’s V2 driver also now automatically batches print jobs by splitting multiple documents into multiple jobs, allowing the ability to pause and recover jobs lost by a power loss or ink ribbon replacement. This feature in particular is critical for users who print high volumes of ID cards in their Magicard ID card systems.
Magicard overhauled and simplified the install process for the V2 driver, making it easy for customers to upgrade. The new install is unified, so Magicard ID card printer users will only need to load the V2 driver once in order to enable ID card printing for every Magicard ID card printer model. The new driver also offers significant improvements in setup for Ethernet networks and automatic updating of an ID card printer’s firmware.
