The Ultra-LE allowed organizations to increase the efficiency of their ID card printing operations, by saving time and money with the issuance of ID cards directly to end-users. The Ultra-LE was one of the lightest and most portable desktop lasers in the industry, weighing only 25 kg, for government or private organizations wishing to deploy ID card credentials quickly and securely across multiple sites, directly to end users. The Ultra-LE was robust enough for centralized ID card production, yet small enough to allow for decentralized ID card printing. This ensured increased security, as the risks involved when secure ID cards are handled by 3rd parties during transportation are eliminated. ID cards created with the Ultra-LE could be printed on the spot and delivered directly into cardholders’ hands.
The Ultra-LE was designed to integrate seamlessly with Magicard´s Prima 4 ID card printer, which with its FIPS-201 certified instant issuance station, became the trusted standard for professional and secure ID card printing of thousands of government and enterprise organizations. By integrating the Prima 4 with the new Ultra-LE, high-security ID cards can be encoded, printed, and personalized in a one-step process. “This is a premium card personalization method that is impossible to replicate with any other technology,” says Ultra Electronics Managing Director Andy Matko. “The average person who attempts to replicate cards from the Ultra-LE will find it too expensive and technically challenging to copy even if they tried.”
When combined with the Prima 4, the Ultra-LE is an easy-to-use desktop solution for creating personalized high-resolution photo ID cards with laser-etched features. Laser etching provides high marking quality by engraving directly into ID cards. The result is an extremely durable ID card with an extended lifespan. Photos and text that are printed using the Prima 4 and Ultra-LE laser engraver last much longer than those printed by the normal printing method of placing ink onto an ID card’s surface.
The Ultra-LE features several laser techniques organizations can use to give their ID cards a variety of security features, depending on their needs. Laser etching, embossed raised type, laser monochrome printing, and two-image lenticular printing can all be used with the Magicard Ultra-LE to create highly personalized and secure ID card credentials.
