Proximity ID cards or prox cards are smart cards that can be read by ID card readers from a distance. This unique feature (which enables prox cards to be read and authenticated at a distance without having to be inserted into or swiped through any actual device) allows them to be used for securing entry points that see high volumes of persons passing through them every day, such as corporate buildings, public transportation facilities, hospital, and health care facilities and more!
Most prox card applications use the 26-bit format H10301. If your ID card application doesn’t use this format you will need one of the other specific bit/formats designed for use on access control ID card systems. See below for a sample list of the proximity ID cards available from AdvantIDge:
